Return to Your Roots

I extend a warm invitation to the second generation of Ethiopians born outside of Ethiopia. Commencing on Tahsas 20 (December) and concluding on Meskerem 20 (September), we encourage you to return to your homeland.

The first phase is named ‘Connect to Your Culture.’ This initiative aims to prompt a recollection and celebration of your cultural heritage, including festivities such as Gena (Christmas) and Timiket, as well as all victory celebrations. Join us in commemorating these occasions and sharing in the joyous festivities.

The second phase kicks off with the African Union (AU) summit and continues until the end of winter. Entitled ‘Connect to Your History,’ this phase facilitates a deeper understanding and connection to your religious, cultural, and linguistic history.

The third phase occurs during your summer, which corresponds to our winter, starting on Meskerem 20. It is aptly named ‘Live Your Legacy.’ After reconnecting with your culture and delving into your history, this phase encourages you to actively contribute by teaching, clothing children, planting seedlings, and participating in winter (your summer) activities. Plant the seeds of your legacy in your country of origin.

This call is not merely a symbolic gesture. For the second generation of our diaspora citizens, when you heed this call, Ethiopian Airlines, our hotels, and the entire service sector will extend generous discounts and complimentary offerings, ranging from tickets to resort stays. For instance, a substantial discount awaits those choosing to stay at Cheberra.

Come, rediscover your roots and be a part of this transformative journey.
